It is an adaptation of Franz Schubert's Winterreise.

Set in Bavaria in 1812 and combining live action performance with 3D environments and hand-painted animation, A WINTER’S JOURNEY is the story of an itinerant lovelorn poet who is banished from society and undertakes a hazardous walk across mountains, ice and snow - a journey which will bring either death or a new life. Based on Franz Schubert's timeless classic song cycle 'Winterreise'.

All set pieces and scenographic elements were built in Poland, and the filming was carried out at the Wrocław Feature Film Studio.

SHATTERED GAMES

— Production Design

Dedicated to Akiba Rubinstein, the greatest Polish chess player, and his legendary “golden team.”

The protagonists—resembling figures from 1930s American cinema and later film noir—form a close-knit group of friends led by the charismatic Dawid Przepiórka, while the brilliant Akiba Rubinstein stands as its most renowned international star.

The film centers on the chess players’ pursuit of the highest titles, intertwined with the personal struggle against the deteriorating health of Grandmaster Akiba Rubinstein.

It portrays an elegant world brought to an abrupt end by the outbreak of war, leading to the ultimate disintegration of the legendary Polish chess team known as the Bombenmannschaft.

Konopacka: The Fight for Gold

— Production Design

Pre-war Warsaw in its elegance, the Olympic arena in Amsterdam, and the vast, remote landscapes of eastern Poland.

In September 1939, Halina Konopacka followed this route as one of the drivers in the convoy evacuating the gold reserves of the Bank of Poland, led by her husband, Colonel Ignacy Matuszewski.

The film unfolds across dual timelines: the high-stakes evacuation of the Bank’s reserves is interwoven with flashbacks that trace the defining moments in the life of the protagonist, building a layered narrative that connects personal history with the broader sweep of historical events.
